Outline

The ninth performance in a regular series by the Phidias Trio comprising Maiko Matsuoka on violin, Ryuta Iwase on clarinet and Erika Kawamura on piano.
Under the concept “Re-interpret,” concert organizers commissioned a new work based on Franz Schubert’s “Winterreise” from Yasutaki Inamori, a composer active both in Japan and overseas. The world premiere was given with guest tenor, Seiji Kanazawa. The performance program featured four works: “Illusion einer einsamen Reise im Winter 1827” (premiere of the new work by Yasutaki Inamori); “Prelude for clarinet and piano,” “Ubi caritas et amor,” and “Moments musicaux No. 2“ by Franz Schubert.

Phidias Trio Tokyo
Formed in 2017 and comprising Maiko Matsuoka on violin, Ryuta Iwase on clarinet and Erika Kawamura on piano. Past performances have featured works by an outstanding contemporary clarinet trio and have also premiered new works by young composers from Austria, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Turkey, South Korea, and Japan, to great acclaim. In addition, the trio has been invited to take part in numerous projects including Hanyang New Music Festival (Seoul, South Korea) and “Japanese Composers 2021” organized by the The Japan Federation of Composers Inc. (JFC). The trio’s December 2021 performance of “Pegasus Concert vol.3” organized by the Japan Society for Contemporary Music (JSCM) was broadcast over two weeks on NHK-FM Gendai no Ongaku.
