The aim of this project targeted at people new to traditional performing arts is to teach the joy and thrill of these arts.
By performing a representative Bunraku and Nihonbuyo program (partial performances of three Bunraku works and one Nihonbuyo work) on the theme of love, and by including a lecture from the viewpoint of “movement,” the aim was to enable the audience to grasp the pleasure of traditional performing arts and characteristics of Japanese culture in a language they could understand.
A further objective was to use this event as an opportunity to encourage people to go see full-fledged Bunraku and Nihonbuyo performances.
MUSUBINOKAI
(NPO Association for Education of Japanese Traditional Performing Arts)
We have been engaged in activities since 2002 with the aim of enabling children to experientially learn about Japanese traditional performing arts and culture through physical engagement. Our activities involve performing artists, school educators, researchers, and others.
Additionally, starting in 2014, we expanded our activities to include adults from the general public, with the goal of increasing their understanding of and enjoyment of Japanese culture.
One of our distinctive features is our collaboration with a diverse group of practitioners, including artists from various genres (two of whom are designated as Living National Treasures), school educators, and researchers. We are dedicated to the promotion of Japanese culture with a focus on traditional performing arts.
