The workshops of Tokyo kumihimo, kimono dressing and flower arrangement will be held at the Hama-rikyu Gardens, the Tokyo Grand Tea Ceremony 2016 venue. This is a valuable opportunity to come in contact with traditional culture in the middle of a Japanese garden well-known as a “metropolitan oasis.” Reception for participation will be open at the venue on that day, so feel free to come.
A brief explanation on Tokyo Kumihimo (braid cords) will be given, and a workshop allowing you to create a Kumihimo by hand will be held. Participants will braid Kumihimo by hand using two different colors of silk thread. The braids may be taken home after completed as bracelets, etc. A demonstration on Kumihimo using a braiding stand will also be given at the same time.
