Hokusai Music Expo: Seeking volunteer staff for Hokusai Music Expo

Show your support for Hokusai Music Expo!

Founded on respect for the world-famous Katsushika Hokusai, the Hokusai Music Expo is a music program in which children from areas surrounding Sumida-ku (Hokusai’s birthplace) get to experience beautiful sounding instruments from around the world, learn about their history and take part in rehearsals that culminate in a performance.
So far the program has given children the opportunity to experience music and culture they would not normally encounter, such as gidayu, steelpan, ukelele and gamelan. We have watched children’s expressions and reactions change bit by bit and their curiosity come alive whenever they are exposed to musical instruments and music new to them.

We believe Hokusai Music Expo encourages children to keep hold of their curiosity, and before long spread their wings like Katsushika Hokusai and go on to have global impact.

Why not support Hokusai Music Expo, so that this year we can continue to create more moments that arouse children’s curiosity and interest?
There are various ways of getting involved. Draw on your personal interests and strengths to give Hokusai Music Expo a boost.
