The 10th event in the “desart & dessert” talk show series, which invites creators and artists from all walks of life to talk about community development, art, and creative activities, welcomes color planner Teruhiro Kataoka and urban designer Hajime Ohki for a discussion of “treasure hunting around town.” From the disorderly jumbles of signs that clutter the streetscapes to the pocket parks and sculptures that have faded into oblivion as people rush around in a constant hustle and bustle, Hachioji has numerous problems to address. Kataoka and Oki look at these issues from the perspectives of color and urban design, exploring the elements that can make the town more attractive and revitalize the community.
