“The town is an art museum for everyone”
Seeking participants for “Skills for…” lecture series

Genre:
  • Art Project ,
  • Lecture / Symposium

We are looking for people to take part in a lecture series for the project “The town is an art museum for everyone.” This lecture series gives participants the opportunity to uncover questions themselves, developing and learning together through acts of creation, expression and transmission.

The spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) has laid bare the social contradictions that we have tried to ignore up until now. Economic disparity that creates inequality of living rights; a social system supported by majority rule; communities monitoring each other and regulation of the self; these elements could be creating a structure of violence. What is needed now is a platform for discussion based on mutual trust, as well as a civic capacity for tolerance towards others from each of us.

In these times, we would like to think about the project “The town is an art museum for everyone.” Together with introspection, the activities of creating and expressing have the power to refresh our perspectives on the environment and history that surrounds us. We could say that “The town is an art museum for everyone” project is a forum for experimentation designed to allow sustained and serious individual thinking, so that each of us can form creative relationships with others in our neighborhood, in our community and in our society.

In these lectures, participants will raise questions and create works themselves, based on what they realize or understand from workshops on physical forms of expression and workshops featuring guests. Though the situation is difficult, participants will attempt to exercise their imagination for various events, things, for other people and also for themselves; they will also attempt thought while they create “artistic expression as a life skill.” When they are able to look back at the world around them with a completely new perspective, and give thought to people they weren’t previously able to encounter despite being in the same neighborhood, this will surely represent the modest start of a “museum,”of a sort previously unimaginable.

The missing word(s) in “Skills for…”is also a question for participants to discover.
Why not join us and get started creating, expressing and transmitting?
