FY2024 START Box: Improving the Creative Environment for Artists

Targeted at young artists, the START Box project rents out studios utilizing vacant municipal and public housing properties at affordable rates.

Following on from last year’s event, we are holding START Box EXHIBITION vol.2 in collaboration with the Yurakucho Art Urbanism Program “YAU” to provide START Box program artists with the opportunity to showcase their works. We look forward to welcoming you.

Programs

【Open days】
Tuesday, September 3 – Sunday, September 8, 2024, 12:00-18:00
*Open until 20:00 on September 3 only

【Venues】
YAU CENTER, 1F Kokusai Building (Marunouchi, 3 −1−1, Chiyoda-ku)

【Programs】
Works by artists on the START Box program will be on display. There will also be live painting and talks.

Special event

There will be a live painting session with exhibiting artist YUSEI (free to attend, no reservation required).
Date/time: Tuesday, September 3 18:00 – 20:00

We will be holding a gallery talk with exhibiting artists, together with guest Arata Hasegawa, an independent curator (free to attend, no reservation required).
Session 1: Saturday, September 7 14:00 – 15:00: Ryusei Akune, Aiko Tanaka, HIROMITSU, Akari Fujise
Session 2: Saturday, September 7 16:00 – 17:00: Maki Hayashida, Mio Hirayama, Ryoichi Nakamura
