Under the Nishiogi Residence project, artists stay in the JR Nishi Ogikubo station area and exhibit the work they create there.
This year’s participant is artist group Olta, which incorporates performance, sculpture, video etc. into cross-genre art forms presented in Japan and overseas. Comprising members born in the 1980s, Olta as a group is able to create multi-dimensional pieces on the fundamentals of mankind, its desires and senses, and contemporary life. For this residency, Olta’s starting point for research and creation was Billiards Yamazaki, which has been in business since before WWII and seen diverse cultural figures pass through its doors.
This exhibition presents “Shoot the Ghost Trio”, a work developed around a specific play and connecting the 85-year old billiards hall with residency base “Nishiogi Residence”.
