Tales spun from the streets make up Senju film festival

The “Unknown Alleys Film Festival” showcases independent films made by artist Mariko Tomomasa together with local participants. The works being screened are handmade films directed and produced by the participants themselves, who handle everything from the screenplays to the filming, editing and music. People who live in Senju and people who know the area walked it as if they were walking the “unknown alleys,” taking a fresh look at the area through their cameras.
In the search for locations, at times they would cross the alleys back and forth like cats. As one participant in charge of the script put it, “The town compelled us to write the screenplays.”
Their work could give filmgoers a sense of some as-yet-unseen aspects of Senju. The three-day film festival begins at NAKACHO House, which became the base for film-making.

*On the days of the festival, scenes at the venue will be filmed as part of a work by Mariko Tomomasa.
