Tokyo Forum: Connecting the future through collaboration and cultivation of human resources
What can we do for society using music, and how do we achieve it? This is an issue many people involved in music are currently grappling with. A variety of initiatives besides conventional performance are in effect throughout Japan, and expectations are increasingly being placed on music as an effective measure in the solving and alleviating of social problems. What should artists, concert venues, government, corporations and also citizens think about and act upon so that music can fulfill its role as a more familiar and accessible art form?

This Tokyo forum explores the question from the perspective of Tokyo as Japan’s center for communicating information. The keywords are “collaboration” and “human resources”. For Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, “human resources” means the people who create and support a rich culture of music and arts. It is these people who epitomize the legacy of our work. We discuss the sort of mission necessary in order to create even more rich, enjoyable and interesting music shaped for the future. In addition, we consider how the skills of “human resources” and “collaboration” can enable the interest and mechanisms needed to facilitate communication from Tokyo to the whole of Japan, and also from Tokyo to the world.
