Let’s start by listening

What can be achieved with music and art? What needs to be done now?
What is necessary to create wide-ranging added value to regional communities through arts and culture?

This meeting brings together the project heads of cultural institutions and artists who took part in a forum project implemented in four Japanese cities during 2017. They will share their findings regarding the challenges and outcomes in each of their communities, as well as their thoughts on the social possibilities of art, with leading figures from the world of culture and arts throughout Japan.

“Debriefing by heads of the four institutions”

Speakers discuss the challenges and the outlook for the future as gleaned from the respective forums, as well as the viable elements of what was implemented.

This special performance program allows participants a literal experience of the “Let’s start by listening” theme from this collaborative forum project between the four institutions.

“The future that art brings”

Artists discuss the joys and difficulties of working on a continuous basis in their local communities, and the possibilities that artists can offer their communities.

“Towards the realization of a future shaped by music”

Given the fact that various initiatives are being implemented in each region with a view to arts and culture becoming a social resource, speakers consider the guidelines going forward from their respective points of view as representatives of a state/government ministry, a national intermediate support organization, and metropolitan Tokyo.
