Shinji Ohmaki “Memorial Rebirth Senju”: Inauguration of Memorial Rebirth School!

Due to the concern regarding the outbreak of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and due to the safety and health for the participants and staffs, we have announced to cancel the program “Industrial arts |Experience a real soap bubble-generating machine!” scheduled on February 29 and “Music and physical education |Master the ‘Shabon Odori’ dance and show everyone how the dance goes!” scheduled on March 28.

It’s a waste to just watch. Participate in your favorite lesson, become a team member and enliven Memorial Rebirth on the day!

We are offering a variety of lessons (workshops) so people can enjoy “Memorial Rebirth Senju 2020 Toneri Park”now. You are welcome to take part in one session or several, and may come along with friends, with children or by yourself.
Memorial Rebirth School is the only way of taking part in Adachi City’s unique art festival!

Science|Making a soap bubble machine by hand!

Together with a former teacher at Tokyo Denki University you can make and take home a machine that automatically generates soap bubbles. Bring your machine to use on the day of the event!

Japanese language|Try your hand at creating Toneri original song lyrics!

In holding Memorial Rebirth in Toneri Park in spring 2020, we will interview local people to help us create a Toneri neighborhood version of the song lyrics to Memorial Rebirth’s famous “Shabon Odori”song. Your words could be sung during the release of soap bubbles at the event!

Schedule
Session 1: Saturday, January 18, 2020 14:00 – 17:00
“The key to writing song lyrics”
We examine the key points of lyric writing and get ready to go out into the streets!
Session 2: Saturday, February 1, 2020 14:00– 17:00
“How to concoct vignettes”
We create lyrics together based on our research, paying attention to a variety of words.
Session 3: Sunday, February 9, 2020 9:00 – 12:00
“Finished at last!”
We finish writing our lyrics and try humming them along to the music!
*Between sessions 1 and 2 there will be a separate session in which we go to interview local people and create new lyrics based on those interviews.
*As a general rule, you are required to participate in all sessions, but if some are problematic please feel free to discuss with the office.

Home economics |Original accessory making – everyday items OK!

Participants make spring-like tulip-designed accessories using Japanese cloth. Suitable for children who enjoy making accessories as well as children who have difficulty making things. Make the day of the event more fun by wearing your handmade accessory!

Music and physical education |Master the “Shabon Odori” dance and show everyone how the dance goes!

We’re looking for people to join in singing, dancing and musical performance for the original Memorial Rebirth “Shabon Odori” dance based on the traditional bon-odori dance. First off experience the dance for yourself by joining a session as detailed below. You can also wait to decide whether you’ll participate as a singer, dancer or musician, on the basis of how you feel on the day.

Industrial arts |Experience a real soap bubble-generating machine!

We invite participants to take part in Memorial Rebirth as soap bubble machine operators on the day by learning how to look after and operate the soap bubble machines that will be used for the event in spring 2020.We’re looking for people who want to help bring a smile to people’s faces, or who want to foster excitement for the event together with various other team members.
