Mimicking nature and at play with forms—a phantasmagoric dance by Min Tanaka.

In the past TACT festivals, Min Tanaka’s outdoor performances Locus Focus has fascinated both children and adults alike. The idea of ‘mimicry’ in the title derives from a form of play argued by French philosopher Roger Caillois that involves imitation and role-playing. In this theatrical performance, Min Tanaka, as a ‘mimicry man,’ presents a dance interacting with a kaleidoscope of all living things—from insects, birds, and beasts to trees and plants. How play has evolved among all organisms since ancient times to the present? We hope you find your answer in Min Tanaka’s dance spectacle, Adventure of Form III: Fallin’ for Dance! —Mimicry Man.
