We are seeking people with backgrounds overseas to create “films of the city” in various locations around Tokyo.

In this workshop, we tour various areas of Tokyo creating “films of the city” with people who have overseas backgrounds. Following workshops #1 Ikebukuro and #2 Katsushika, this third workshop takes place in Kita-ku. People both familiar and unfamiliar with Kita-ku are welcome to join. Why not walk around the city with people from various backgrounds and make a “Kita-ku movie” unique to that one day and one group of filmmakers?

About the workshop

Members, through a three-day workshop (the first will be held online), will reflect on their own backgrounds in various ways, using photography and audio, while walking through the city. Forming groups with other people from various backgrounds, we will collectively discuss and cooperate with each other to create a short film. On the final day, a screening to which members of the public are invited will be held to showcase the works produced by each participant.

*In response to the COVID-19 situation: activities will be conducted in small groups, and fieldwork, shoots, etc. will be conducted avoiding close contact. Depending on the situation, we may decide to switch how the workshops are held between face-to-face and online.
*Program contents are subject to change.
