KINO Meeting #4 Screening and Talk

We will screen “films of the city” made by people who (also) have backgrounds overseas.

KINO Meeting, a project to create “films of the city” with people who (also) have backgrounds overseas while touring various areas of Tokyo, will hold its first screening event.
Two works, “Cinema Portrait” and “New Tokyo Tour,” will be screened.
The event will also invite Yuzu Murakami, who will be giving a talk to enrich our experience of understanding the film.

Featured Works

– #4 Shinjuku “Cinema Portrait”
Cinema Portrait” is a simple film consisting of 10 photographs and 2 minutes of audio, created within KINO Meeting workshops, with its people with those who (also) have backgrounds overseas. The participants will walk around the city as a team, telling their own personal episodes and listening to the stories of others to create a work together.
For this event, we will screen a work produced during the workshop “KINO Meeting #4 Shinjuku” which is to be held on October 27 and 28.

– Film “New Tokyo Tour”
Lee just lost her job, separated from her partner, and is on the verge of losing sight of the meaning of living in her city. Then one day, a chance encounter with Du Shiqi, who just arrived at the city, leads Lee to become involved in Du Shiqi’’s sightseeing tour. The story, born from the backgrounds of each member who made the film and their daily experiences, may not be completely fiction, but the actual life of someone in the city you live.
*This film was created during the predecessor event to KINO Meeting, “Multicultural Film Making (MFM) -Creating a film together with people from different backgrounds”.
