Conceived by playwright, director, and actor Hideki Noda, this is a cultural movement based on the concept of engendering new forms of expression through the mingling of cultures brought about by encounters between a diverse array of artists. Starting in the Komazawa district of Tokyo in 2015, it has delivered genre-transcending performances in 16 locations across Japan and overseas. In 2021, Tokyo Caravan will welcome both established artists and up-and-coming figures brimming with fresh talent and the vigor of youth to create and present performances that will serve as the culmination of the creative activity undertaken since the project’s inception.
