Memorial Rebirth Senju 2017: Seeking performers to be teen band members for a day!

Genre:
  • Art Project

Why not perform at Memorial Rebirth as a member of a teen band?

We’re looking for performers to create a magical sound space with their musical grooves and dance moves for the “Shabon Odori” Bon festival dance at this year’s soap bubble-filled event in Senju’s Sekiya Park. Join us to create an unforgettable Memorial Rebirth!

The teen band will be a one-off music and dance troupe formed for Memorial Rebirth.
You’re equally welcome if you’ve never performed in front of anyone before!
We want to hear from you if you think it sounds interesting and want to give it a go, or if you’re looking at activities outside of school; if you like Senju or want to check out Tokyo University of the Arts Senju Campus in Adachi-ku; if you want to join in with friends or set yourself a challenge alone; if you want to have a variety of experiences or build on your skills; or if you want to meet different people. Perform as a teen band for Memorial Rebirth if you just love music and art!

Teen band workshops at Tokyo University of the Arts

Teen band members will be able to take part in workshops led by graduates from Tokyo University of the Arts at the university’s Senju campus.

(A) Music course
Participants will practise an original “Shabon Odori” song with the composer.
You can take part according to your experience: whether you are just starting out playing an instrument, or whether you’ve been playing for years.
Any instrument is okay, whether brass, woodwind, percussion, flute/pipe whistle, keyboard harmonica, castanets, tambourine or anything else.
*Please bring your own instruments. Please contact us about large instruments you are unable to bring in yourself, or electronic instruments like electric guitars.

(B) Performance course
Performers will learn the steps for and dance the “Shabon Odori”, as well as think up Memorial Rebirth outfits based on participants’ strong points. The aim of this workshop is to add a splash of color to the soap bubble filled scene. No performance or dance experience is necessary.
If you want to get involved but don’t or won’t play an instrument, we recommend the performance course.
