Secret project to be finally announced, guest appearance by Shoko Nakagawa!

Tokyo Tokyo FESTIVAL (TTF)is an initiative that will see a variety of cultural programs unfold in the run-up to 2020 when the Olympic and Paralympic Games will take place, promoting Tokyo’s appeal as a city of arts and culture.
TTF will be full swing from April 2020 onwards, when many programs will be implemented. Prior to this there will be a promotional event on Wednesday, March 4 in KITTE Marunouchi.

This event will at last see the unveiling of the thirteenth project of the TTF core program, “Tokyo Tokyo FESTIVAL Special 13.” This program comprises thirteen projects chosen from 2,436 submissions from Japan and overseas, the last of which was the only one kept under wraps. The Governor of Tokyo Yuriko Koike will announce the project title and details on the day of the event.
A selection of upcoming projects from the program will also be outlined. Featuring celebrity “tarento” Shoko Nakagawa as special guest, this event will provide an in-depth look at the appeal of a cultural festival only possible in Tokyo.

  • “DANCE TRUCK TOKYO” (Japan Dance Truck Association)
    Dance Truck is a mobile performance platform touring all over the Tokyo area using the cargo box of a truck as a movable stage
  • “TOKYO REAL UNDERGROUND” (NPO Dance Archive Network)
    An experimental art festival with a focus on Butoh, held at underground spaces in Tokyo

    Participatory music and art festival imagining the Sumida River as a stage, with people mixing like surging waves
    • “World Performing Arts Festival 2020”(Japan Folk Performing Arts Association)
    A festival bringing together folk performing arts and other intangible cultural heritage from around the world
  • “The Speed of Light” (Marco Canale, Argentina)
    A touring theatrical project with a narrative developed using the memories and dreams of elderly people in Tokyo
