Following the establishment of “Miyakejima University” in September of 2011, Keio University Faculty of Environment and Information Studies professor Fumitoshi Kato and his Laboratory developed a poster project as part of a research program at the new institution. Through interviews with the landladies of inns on the island, the students extracted the essence of the island’s attraction for posters to be displayed at the Takeshiba Passenger Ship Terminal, the gateway to Miyake Island and the other Izu islands.
