Wataru Asada "Senju Town Label"
"Town recorder" recruitment briefing

Getting to know the community, and compiling its sounds. Meeting people through sounds.

We are holding a recruitment briefing for “town recorders”(reporter/recorders of local sounds and music) to help us express the charms of Senju through sound.
Senju Town Label began in November 2016 as a project to explore the possibilities for local sound media.
In December 2017, organizers released a not-for-sale 13-track LP record “Onban Senju Vol. 1: Each local memory/record” of sounds collected and recorded by dozens of “town recorders” recruited from inside and outside Adachi-ku. The “town recorders” accompanied organizers into the community to do interviews and make recordings of various local sounds, such as the sizzling of the traditional Senju dish “botta” being cooked on a hotplate, and the hoarse cries of market traders.
This year’s activities include the production of tracks for “Onban Senju Vol. 2”, and the implementation of various programs/events making “Onban Senju Vol. 1” available to the community.

The briefing will include a presentation by Director Wataru Asada, a workshop by “town recorders” and a sound-themed walk around Senju. Anyone interested in sounds or community, or who would like to find out more about project activities is welcome to take part!
